Our Future In Technology

Page history last edited by PBworks 4 years, 10 months ago

Technology is a wonderful thing.  It can heal people, allow people who are mute to have a voice, and

create vast learning experiances.  However, there is a dark side to technology that I believe is very real.  During this semester I had the opportunity to discuss and debate technology and it's impact on society.  Although I think technology is wonderful, I think it is too often used ot supplement human interaction and hands on learning.  I'll use the example of watching baby chicks hatch from their egss; this is a popular elementary school activity.  I agree it is wonderful to be able to watch them on a computer screen but why not just go on a field trip to a farm and see the same thing in person!

Our children (and adults) are so fast paced and bogged down with information that humanity gets lost along the way.  It is scary to think that in maybe 10 years every school will be technology dependent.  There is more to be studied and learned then the computer.  Our children need to be brought back to a slower pace.  They need to be taught how to use a library and not just a search engine.  We need to slow everything and everyone down or else we may just race off to nowhere!  I ask everyone to seriously consider how much time they spend using some form of technology and compare that to the amount of time they spend actually interacting, face to face, with another human being.  Check out these website for more information:
